    Tambov State Technical University (TSTU) is consistently ranked as one of the largest educational institutions in the Tambov region. The University was founded in 1958. Today Tambov State Technical University is a dynamic university with 8 institutes, 2 faculties, 40 departments; 8 research centers, innovation laboratories and centers of shared access, fundamental library, student campus, stadium, swimming pool and a summer camp in the countryside. The University is a leader in combining best technical and engineering education with the substantial teaching and research practices. More than 55 000 specialists with diplomas of higher education have been trained for more than 60 years of university existence.

    Tambov State Technical University expands already significant local and international academic range, further raising its reputation as one of the pre-eminent regional university.

    TSTU builds strategic partnerships with overseas universities and businesses to increase the research and education and supply impact through knowledge transfer.  It also develops innovative ways of strengthening the academic base and delivering best technical and engineering education practices through offering a wide range of Bachelor and Master programs in Construction; Architecture; Information systems and technologies; Bio-technical systems and technologies; Technological machines and equipment; Mechatronics and robotics technology; Heat-power engineering; Oil and gas engineering; Economics; Law and other academic program.

    More than 750 international students of Tambov State Technical University represent over 30 countries, and are dedicated to maintaining the highest academic standards. The international cooperation is one of the main priorities of TSTU development. The University implements international academic and scientific projects and academic mobility programs with more than 90 foreign universities from 37 countries.

    Tambov was founded in 1636. The population of the city is about 300,000 people. Tambov is situated about 450 km from Moscow. In order to get to Tambov from Moscow students can use train, plane or take a taxi. Average temperature in winter is -5˚С, in summer is +20˚С. The average cost of living is $300 per month. Tambov is a quiet and very beautiful modern city, it has all conditions for quality education.

    University achievements

    The innovative infrastructure of TSTU includes: engineering center "New materials and technologies for civil and dual use", centers of shared access "Digital mechanical engineering"; "Robotics", "BIM - technologies"; "Electronics and communications"; "Obtaining and application of polyfunctional nanomaterials", Business incubator "Innovatika" and Technology transfer center.

    Scientific and research laboratories: "Bioengineering"; "Materials science and technologies of special purpose materials"; "Mechanics of composite materials and structures"; "Modeling and design of complex technical systems"; "Laboratory of medical VR simulator  systems for training, diagnostics and rehabilitation", etc.

    TSTU is a full member of the interregional scientific and educational center of the world level "Engineering of the Future".

    Citation rate of scientific articles over the past 5 years in the Web of Science is 1736; Scopus - 2450; RSCI - 11421.

    Current research and educational projects

    TSTU scientists and researchers are expanding their knowledge, through theoretical and applied research, projects of Federal Target Program implemented according to the Priority directions of TSTU research activities “Industry of nanosystems” “Information and telecommunication systems”, “Energy efficiency, energy conservation and nuclear power”, “Rational use of natural resources”.

    Here is the list of the TSTU most important research projects:

    • “Technologies for accelerated hydrothermal carbonization of agricultural waste in order to obtain an intermediate product (biochar) suitable for the production of a highly effective sorbent or soil improver”;
    • “Technologies and a set of equipment for generating electricity from by-products resulting from the disposal and processing of waste from poultry farms, food, forestry and woodworking industries”;
    • “New intelligent robotic technologies for monitoring the quality and sorting of fruits”;
    • “New generation of multipurpose greases for the use in the Arctic and the Far North applying graphene-based antiwear additives”;
    • “Nanocarbon additives for construction materials modification”;
    • “Process of cultivation of microalgae Chlorella Vulgaris biomass with high lipid content”;
    • “Development of automated device “Artificial lungs” for human respiratory protection equipment testing”.
